MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer III) is a format developed specifically for the Internet for fast, high-quality audio transmission and is the most widely used audio file format at the moment. MP3 files are recognized by almost all music playback software on all operating systems. The MP3 format uses a lossy compression algorithm, so songs in this format take up less space, while the sound quality can remain at a good level thanks to removing only sounds inaudible to the human ear.
